Devonport is known as the gateway to Tasmania due to it's important port status.  Devonport is where the Spirit of Tasmania ferries arrive with their vehicle and passenger cargoes. It sits on the banks of the Mersey River in the Mersey/Forth Valley.  Devonport has great cuisine and excellent shopping including specialist Tasmanian art and craft shops.  With over 20kms of cycle/walkways Devonport is ideal to stroll around and explore its parklands, tourist attractions, heritage areas and picturesque waterfront.
