The township of Beechworth is considered to be Victoria's best preserved Gold Rush Town. To get there from Melbourne is around a 3 hour drive along the Hume Highway. This is a "Golden" opportunity to revisit our past with the many historical buildings on display in exceptional condition.

Beechworth Historic and Cultural Precinct offers an insight into life on the early goldfields with an impressive collection of 19th century provincial government buildings. Buildings include the telegraph station, courthouse, sub-treasury and gold office, Chinese protector's office and the gold warden's office.

Not forgetting of course the relevance to Beechworth of Ned Kelly. Having spent many hours in the Beechworth Gaol including the preceding days to his trial and execution in Melbourne.
Beechworth is a scenic splendour and with cafes, restaurants and shopping to while away the hours and you will want to stay for more than one night.
