Departing from the wharf daily, visitors can board genuine Paddlesteamers which form a key part of Echuca's fleet, the largest paddleboat fleet in the World. Echuca is derived from the Aboriginal word for "meeting of the water" and it certainly is an apt description. In the past Echuca was the main destination for paddle steamers carrying their cargoes of wool from near the Queensland border to start their lan journey to Melbourne. Paddle steamers are still a regular feature on the river but are now dedicated to the tourist market. There's plenty to see and do in this area as well as being a great base for exploring other locations. You can explore the rivers edge and experience what it was like during it's glory days.
