Travel around Victoria is booming and why not. The quality of accommodation, attractions and dining is second to none. Why not explore one of these featured destinations soon? There is nothing cheaper than exploring your own back yard and Victoria has everything a holiday maker could want.

Melbourne
Melbourne is the capital of Victoria and offers everything you would expect of a major city. Staging some of the best sporting events and theatre performances, Melbourne is the cultural hub of Australia. The Melbourne Comedy Festival, Moomba, the Tennis, Melbourne Cup, Formula One Racing - if there's a major festival on it's probably going to be here.

Anglesea
Anglesea is a great place to take your family at any time of year. There's plenty to do including paddleboating on the Anglesea River, walking along the beautiful beaches or taking in a cosy cafe. If you are visiting Anglesea during the cooler months rug up as the winds of the ocean can be quite fresh.
|
Apollo Bay
Sure Apollo Bay is a fair drive around the Great Ocean Road (or you can go inland) but it is well worth it. Not only have you got fantastic sea views but the Otway Ranges are your backdrop. Even better it's not as crowded as some of the closer destinations.
|
Ararat
Ararat is an old gold mining town in the foothills of the Pyrenees mountains. A rural city with magnificent views of the surrounding country Ararat is close to some of Victoria's most significant National and State Parks, as well as a number of other reserves and lakes.
|
Bacchus Marsh
Bacchus Marsh is a rural town of undulating hills, market gardens and cool shade trees. The entrance to Bacchus Marsh is the Avenue of Honour lined with large elm trees interspersed with market garden outlets for you to purchase fresh veges and fruit to take back with you. The town centre of Bacchus Marsh shows off its rich history with historical buildings.
|
Ballarat
Ballarat is cold and wet again, thank goodness. The surrounding hills of Ballarat are green, the Wendouree Lake has some water starting to flow into it, and dust has settled on the streets. It's the perfect time to rug up and visit places like Sovereign Hill or the beautiful Ballarat Botanical Gardens.
|
Beechworth
Considered to be Victoria's best preserved Gold Rush Town. To get there from Melbourne is around a 3 hour drive along the Hume Highway.
|
Bendigo
Bendigo must be one of the most beautiful rural cities in Australia. Every time you visit Bendigo they seem to be making improvements to the city. This is a great time of year to visit the Bendigo Botanical Gardens, take a ride on the Talking Tram or go down the Central Deborah Gold Mine.
|
Bright
Reknowned for the breathtaking display of colour provided each year in Autumn as the deciduos trees begin to loose their leaves. The original avenues of trees were planted by the town pioneers.
|
Castlemaine
Castlemaine is one of those few places that has tastefully retained the look of the town. The IGA supermarket was incorporated into the original building, and the Castlemaine Visitor Centre and the Empyre Hotel have retained the original look.
|
Creswick
Creswick has a multi-million dollar golf course being developed. The facility will offer a top golf course, club house and luxury units. The developer should be commended for it's inovative approach to supplying it's own water and not putting further pressure on the town's water supply.
|
Daylesford
If you haven't been to Daylesford in Winter, you don't know what you're missing. Daylesford is famous for hot spas, woodfires, great dining and cosy accommodation. The region can get snow, but it's very seldom and doesn't last long, maybe a day or too.
|
Echuca
A great town for exploring or relaxing. I did both. Over to Moama for the clubs, perfect for a cheap meal and to play the pokies. Back to Echuca to shop in the town, take a walk by the river and enjoy the paddlesteamers passing by.
