Omeo is the south-eastern gateway to the Alpine National Park in the north-east of the state with Omeo Station being the first settlement in Gippsland. Omeo offers the pleasure of exploring our early history with many buildings including the old log gaol (1858) which is constructed of Snow Gum and lined with Blackwood. The town was infamous for its huge influx of gold seekers and was known as one of the toughest and most lawless goldfield towns in Australia.

Dining in a Cafe or Restaurant offers one of life's simple pleasures.  Whether it be a cheap eat or silver service, there is nothing better than a good meal.  An Italian, Thai, Japanese, Chinese, Mexican or Australian restaurant offers dining experiences to make you want to go back again and again.  Try a local cafe for a coffee and cake or perhaps a light meal.  Let's not forget the range of takeaway with pizza, fish and chips and noodles.
