Omeo is around 400 kms from Melbourne on the Great Alpine Road. It has a small population of around 300 people and is classed as an historic pioneering township. From Melbourne it takes a little under six hours via the Princes and Omeo highways.

Omeo is the south-eastern gateway to the Alpine National Park in the north-east of the state with Omeo Station being the first settlement in Gippsland.

The township offers the pleasure of exploring our early history with many buildings including the old log gaol (1858) which is constructed of Snow Gum and lined with Blackwood. The town was infamous for its huge influx of gold seekers and was known as one of the toughest and most lawless goldfield towns in Australia.

Omeo is surrounded by magnificent mountain scenery with drives and walks giving you plenty to enjoy.
